Do you know the most frequent reason that a Safe Gatherings application is delayed? It might not be what you think.

You may be thinking that the background check is most frequently what causes an application to be delayed, but that’s not correct. The most frequent reason? The applicant’s own references!

How can that be? First, it could be that the automated reference form was either deleted or ignored by the reference. This is typical when people don’t recognize a sender’s email address. Another reason is that the form went to the person’s junk or spam folder, and they don’t check that folder often. The applicant also may have the wrong email address for a reference.

The good news is that all of these situations can be remedied quickly. We can resend the email, correct the reference email, or take the reference over the phone. It’s simple! And it’s always good for the applicants to notify and remind their references to help speed things along.
